Miss India Tripura 2017 Rinky Chakma passed away at the young age of 28. After fighting cancer for the last two years, the former Miss India Tripura winner eventually succumbed to the disease. Since 2022, she has been battling cancer. Rinky had surgery after receiving a diagnosis of malignant Phyllodes tumor (breast cancer). But the cancer metastasized to her lungs and progressed to her head, where it developed into a brain tumour. Later on, according to a report from Femina, her health declined and she was unable to sustain chemo.
News reports state that Rinky Chakma was hospitalized to Max Hospital Saket on February 22 and was in critical condition. One of her lungs was nearly nonfunctional, therefore she was in the intensive care unit on a ventilator. The former Miss India Tripura asked for financial support for her treatment in an Instagram post last month. She detailed her experience with cancer in the post, as well as how, in the past, she had felt uneasy discussing her medical issues on social media.
However, Rinky explained how she and her family need financial aid now for the cancer treatment.
She wrote, “I just wanted to let everyone know that me and my family is going through a rough time and the last two years have also not been easy with regular hospital stays and visits. I am accepting donations as of now because we have exhausted all our savings on my treatment since the last two years. I thought letting everyone know what I am going through will also make me feel better.”
Rinky Chakma won the Miss India Tripura crown in 2017. Rinky, a finalist for Miss India, won two sub-titles of Miss Congeniality and Beauty With a Purpose. In the same year, Manushi Chhillar was victorious in both the Miss World and Miss India World pageants.
