In a run up to the forthcoming parliamentary polls, Haryana Congress claims to be unperturbed with the recent debacle in three states, especially in the adjoining Rajasthan stating that the party succeeded in gaining a sizable chunk of vote share in the neighboring state and the results of the polls have nothing to do with the forthcoming polls and will not have far-reaching implications on the state politics.
Meanwhile, the widened rift over battle of dominance between Bhupender Singh Hooda and opposite factions’s leaders namely Kumari Seleja, Randeep Surjewala and Kumari Seleja known as SRK continues to remain adding to the woes of the party high command. and keeping in view the same, the state party In-charge Deepak Babria will chair a meeting in presence of state Congress leaders at the party headquarter here on Wednesday with an aim to deliver a message of unity among the stalwarts in the state politics ahead of polls. One of the party leaders said on anonymity that it is an uphill task for the party high command to bring the ongoing feud to an end as none of the factions seems to step back in a battle of political existence in the party.
Despite the repeated and continuous efforts, the party high command failed to unite the state party leaders so far, adding to its woes. With few months left in upcoming polls, both aforementioned factions of the state are stepping up to oust the ruling BJP-JJP led government in Haryana in the assembly elections. In this series, the party high command has approved the proposals for the appointment of parliamentary constituency wise coordinators on Sunday for the upcoming general elections which clearly indicates the unilateral hold of Bhupender Singh Hooda and supporters, a setback to the leaders of opposite faction SRK including Kumari Selja, Randeep Surjewala and Kirna Chaudhary and the same is likely to upset the SRK group.
Apart from aforesaid, it is pertinent to mention that things are contrary and are quite different in National politics as the party is losing ground which had forced the party last year to come up with the INDIA alliance. As the polls draw near, the issue pertaining to the finalisation of tickets among the alliance continues to prevail. Amid the prevailing scenario, the issue is most likely to be discussed in the meeting to be slated on January 10 in Chandigarh.
Meanwhile, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), a partner in INDIA and the Congress are eyeball to eyeball over the seat share ratio in Haryana as well. Amid this, it came to fore that no talks surfaced so far pertaining to the same and one of the senior party leaders informed that it has been decided not to share even a single seat with the AAP in Haryana. Notably, the Congress which is contesting the parliamentary polls under the INDIA bloc banner does not seem to give any seat to the AAP in the state.
Amid this, it is pertinent to mention that the ruling saffron BJP is believed to come with a panel to explore the feasibility of holding of assembly and parliamentary polls simultaneously. Earlier, while reacting to a question on alliance with AAP, the party stalwart Bhupender Singh Hooda said that how can a party with no base in Haryana claim a seat. Over the fresh talks pertaining to seat sharing ratio, Hooda termed the same a hypothetical question.
In continuation to aforesaid, it is worth stating that in a meeting of the National Alliance Committee of the Congress held recently, the party leaders have made it clear that the Congress will contest all 10 seats in Haryana irrespective of any circumstances.
Although, the meeting pertaining to the finalisation of ticket share in Punjab and Delhi was held and no consensus could be reached. Even as the Punjab and Delhi state unit of the Congress are opposed to any alliance or seat-sharing with AAP, its Haryana has not made anything clear.
