As soon as they announced this to the world, well wishers from the film industry posted on their profiles congratulating them on the good news. Mini Mathur wrote, “You think I can start charging for knowing peeps are pregnant before doctors. (laughter) Love you guys and congratulations. Ab maza aayega.”
Kalki Kanmani meanwhile told them to call her when they need love and support. Ira Khan, Ayushman Khurana, Mrunal Thakur, Prateik Babbar, Kriti Kharbanda, Dia Mirza, Shriya Pilgaonkar and Anshula Kapoor also congratulated the lovely couple.
Richa and Ali just returned to India from the Sundance Film Festival where their production, Girls Will Be Girls, won two awards. The film secured top honours in the World Cinema Dramatic Entry category, namely the Audience Award and the Special Jury Award for lead actor Preeti Panigrahi.
Chadha and Ali launched their joint production banner Pushing Buttons Studios in 2021 and got married in 2022. When Girls Will Be Girls won at Sundance, Richa stated, “An Audience Award at Sundance means people from all over the world watched and loved this story.
This kind of recognition prolongs the journey of an indie film. We definitely both have good taste. So, we will produce together, even if some projects are led by Ali, some by me or some other member of our team.”
