Renowned Kannada film actor Bungle Shama Rao Dwarakanath, known as Dwarakish, passed away at the age of 81 after suffering a cardiac arrest on Tuesday, as confirmed by family sources.

Dwarakish, who hailed from Hunsur in Mysuru district and was born on August 19, 1942, left a significant mark in the Kannada film industry. With a career spanning several decades, he contributed to approximately 100 films as an actor and was involved in the production and direction of around 50 movies. He gained widespread recognition for his comedic roles, earning him a cherished place in the hearts of Karnataka’s audiences.

One of his notable achievements was introducing the renowned Hindi playback singer Kishore Kumar to the Kannada film industry through the song ‘Aadu Aata Aadu’.

Initially trained as a mechanical engineer, Dwarakish ventured into the film world in 1966 by co-producing “Mamatheya Bandhana” under the Thunga Pictures banner. He achieved significant success as a producer with the film “Mayor Muthanna,” featuring Kannada cinema legend Dr. Rajkumar and Bharathi in leading roles.
