Yesteryear’s beloved actress Leelavathi (87), who had been unwell due to age-related ailments, passed away on Friday. Her son Vinod Raj was attending to her in her final days. Reports suggest that her health had shown signs of improvement recently, but abruptly worsened on Friday afternoon, resulting in a sudden drop in her blood pressure. Rushed to a hospital in Nelamangala, she couldn’t be saved. Leelavathi had been confined to bed for an extended period prior to her passing.
Leelavathi resided in her Soladevanahalli farmhouse located in Nelamangala taluk, where she had established a hospital and a veterinary facility. Not long ago, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah visited the ailing Leelavathi and noted that she was undergoing treatment at home. He offered to cover her medical costs should she require hospitalization. Consequently, her son, actor Vinod Raj, arranged for her admission to a hospital. Fellow actors Yash and Darshan also paid visits to the ailing actress. Following her death, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah posted on X, “The news of the passing away of veteran Kannada actress Leelavati is painful. Just last week, after hearing about his illness, I visited his home and inquired about his health and talked to his son Vinod Raj”.
