Just like the smuggler Pushpa’s escapades captured on wildlife surveillance cameras, four poachers found themselves ensnared by a night vision camera trap, thanks to the vigilance of forest officials.
In a tale echoing the movie’s narrative, while Pushpa remained elusive, forest authorities managed to apprehend three out of the four poachers. The incident took place on February 2, 2024, when forest officials strategically positioned cameras in the dense Umman Penta beat of the Pandigundam range as part of Camera Trap Phase 4.
The turning point came on February 23 when forest personnel reviewed the camera footage and spotted two poachers carrying a Nilgai, their prized trophy from an illegal hunt. Swift action ensued, leading to the arrest of three individuals involved. However, one poacher, identified as Kashamoni Raman, managed to evade capture, prompting forest officials to initiate a search operation to bring him to justice.
The three arrested poachers, identified as Dasari Lalu, Dasari Srinu, and Jelly Krishna, hail from the remote Maddi Madugu village nestled within the Amrabad Tiger Reserve.
