IPL 2024: Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) matched Mumbai Indians (MI) for the most 200-plus run totals in a single Indian Premier League (IPL) season, achieving this milestone against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in Bengaluru. RCB amassed a formidable total of 218/5 in 20 overs against CSK, marking their sixth 200-plus total this season. This accomplishment puts them on par with Mumbai Indians (six 200-plus totals in 2023) and Kolkata Knight Riders (six 200-plus totals in IPL 2024).

Additionally, RCB made history by becoming the first team ever to hit 150 sixes in a single edition of a T20 tournament. Surpassing Sunrisers Hyderabad’s tally of 146 sixes, RCB reached the milestone with 16 more sixes.

In the match against CSK, who won the toss and chose to bat first, RCB displayed a strong batting performance, posting a challenging score of 218/5. Captain Faf Du Plessis (54 runs off 39 balls) and Virat Kohli (47 runs off 29 balls) led the charge with a 78-run partnership, laying a solid foundation for Rajat Patidar (41 runs off 23 balls) and Cameron Green (38* runs off 17 balls) to further bolster the total with a 71-run stand for the third wicket. Contributions from Dinesh Karthik (14 runs off six balls) and Glenn Maxwell (16 runs off five balls) propelled RCB to cross the 200-run mark.

RCB’s objective now is to limit CSK to under 201 runs to secure a spot in the playoffs and improve their net run rate.
