Ravindra Sharma, the leading contender for the senior citizen Council elections, has unveiled plans to extend legal assistance to council members. He announced his intention to provide legal aid to address family disputes and other significant concerns among council members.

Sharma expressed concern over reports of elder abuse within families, highlighting instances where elderly individuals feel isolated and vulnerable due to mistreatment by their children. The Senior Citizen Council, under his leadership, pledges to offer support to such elderly individuals.

Sharma outlined the establishment of a helpline number dedicated to providing legal services. Elderly individuals reluctant to directly contact the helpline can enlist the help of someone they trust to make the call on their behalf, ensuring they receive assistance without fear of retribution. He emphasised the council’s commitment to ensuring that elderly individuals facing family disputes or harassment encounter no obstacles in accessing legal aid.

Acknowledging instances where elderly individuals are subjected to mistreatment by their children, Sharma underscored the need for intervention to safeguard their well-being. He lamented situations where elderly individuals, having endured life’s challenges, find themselves struggling in their twilight years, often facing eviction or abandonment by their families. Sharma’s vision is to create an environment where seniors can enjoy their golden years without fear or distress.

Kartar Singh Elawadi, vying for the position of General Secretary, echoed Sharma’s sentiments, emphasizing the importance of upholding the rights of senior citizens under the law. He pledged the council’s commitment to safeguarding these rights and ensuring their enforcement.

Suresh Gupta, candidate for Vice Principal, Jaipal Garg, candidate for Secretary, and Pawan Kumar Gupta, candidate for Finance Secretary, collectively expressed their dedication to preventing family disputes and protecting the interests of senior citizens.
They proposed regular legal awareness camps, in collaboration with the District Legal Services Authority, to educate elders about their legal rights.

These camps would provide a platform for elders to seek guidance and support in navigating legal issues. Sharma’s team appealed to senior citizens and council members to participate in the upcoming elections on March 17th and secure victory for their entire team. They pledged to fulfill the promises made to the community and uphold the welfare of senior citizens.
