Illegal mining is rampant near the Bhaurli village bridge, and despite complaints, the district administration is not taking effective measures to stop it. The Block Samiti Vice Chairman Vinod Kumar and other villagers accuse the mining department and administration of laxity, expressing concerns about the potential collapse of the bridge due to unauthorized mining.
From April 2023 to October 2023, 125 vehicles involved in illegal mining have been seized, and fines totaling 1 crore 5 lakh 33 thousand rupees have been imposed. District Mining Officer Gurjeet Singh confirms continuous actions against individuals engaged in illegal mining during this period. Additionally, 73 FIRs have been registered, and a substantial amount has been collected in fines.
Deputy Commissioner Sushil Sarwan has directed a joint campaign involving the mining department and related authorities to crack down on illegal mining activities in the district. He emphasizes stringent action against those involved in illegal mining, seizure of vehicles used in mining, and filing of FIRs. A district-level task force has been formed to inspect potential mining areas, take strict action against offenders, and submit reports.
The Deputy Commissioner ensures that mining is not carried out beyond the specified depth at allocated mining sites. Regular raids are also instructed in mining-prone areas of Kalaka sub-division, including Burjkotiya, Jabrot, Deewanwala, Basaula, Paploha, Nanakpur (forest area), Charniyans, and Mehtab Majra.
