The Rajya Sabha on Monday passed the Jammu and Kashmir Appropriation (No 2) Bill and the Finance Bill, 2023, without any discussion.

These bills were passed despite a ruckus created by the Opposition parties demanding a Joint Parliamentary Committee probe into the Adani- Hindenburg matter. Lok Sabha passed both bills last week amid hue and cry created by the Opposition parties regarding the Adani issue.

Minutes after Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman moved ‘The Appropriation Bill, 2023’ in the Rajya Sabha, they were considered and returned due to the sloganeering by Opposition leaders.

The Jammu and Kashmir Appropriation (No. 2) Bill, 2023 seeks to authorise the payment and allocation of specific amounts from and out of the Consolidated Fund of India for the services of the financial year 2022-23.

In the midst of an uproar in the Lower House, the Lok Sabha last week passed the Bill without debate.

The Appropriation (No. 2) Bill, 2023 requests approval for the payment and appropriation of additional sums from and out of the Consolidated Fund of India for the services of the fiscal year 2022–2023. The Lok Sabha passed the Bill without debate last week.
