Defense Minister Rajnath Singh has stated that Pakistan must cease terrorism originating from its territory, and if it lacks the capability to do so, it can seek assistance from India. He emphasized that any attempt by Pakistan to destabilize India through terrorism would result in consequences. India has consistently underscored its stance against cross-border terrorism and reiterated that it cannot ignore terrorism to mend relations with Islamabad. The responsibility lies with Islamabad to create an environment free from terror, hostility, and violence.
Singh highlighted that if Pakistan genuinely intends to address cross-border terrorism, it should take decisive action. He offered India’s readiness to support efforts to combat terrorism, emphasizing that both countries can work together to end it. Regarding his remarks on taking decisive action against terrorism, Singh affirmed India’s determination to prevent terrorist activities within its borders and hinted at potential actions across the border. He cited India’s past surgical and aerial strikes in response to terror attacks as examples.
Responding to questions about the perceived aggressive tone of BJP leaders during election campaigns, Singh emphasized the government’s balanced approach on all issues. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath also expressed confidence in India’s ability to safeguard its citizens and borders, citing the revocation of Article 370 as a move to end terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir.
