The Rajasthan cabinet expansion, led by CM Bhajan Lal Sharma, might experience delays, creating unease among senior leaders in the state. However, no conclusive decision has been reached regarding the cabinet expansion in Rajasthan.
At present, top BJP leaders are deliberating the formation of the MP Cabinet in New Delhi. Several heavyweight leaders from Madhya Pradesh have been elected as MLAs, and decisions regarding their roles in the cabinet are pending. The discussions include leaders such as Prahlad Patel, Kailash Vijayvargiya, Rakesh Singh, Riti Pathak, and Rao Uday Pratap Singh, who transitioned from being MPs to MLAs in the recent assembly polls. In Rajasthan, concerns revolve around the future role of former CM Vasundhara Raje and her supporters. The party is hesitant to grant more representation to leaders from the Raje camp. Additionally, uncertainties surround Raje’s political future and her son Dushyant Singh’s potential role, especially if he is not appointed to a ministerial post, raising questions about his Lok Sabha ticket next year.
Vasundhara Raje is currently in Delhi attending a meeting chaired by BJP national president JP Nadda, where discussions are expected to include the party’s strategy for Lok Sabha polls and the assembly results of five states. Raje is likely to discuss her future role with senior party leaders during this meeting.
The party faces a challenge in deciding ministerial posts for leaders like Kirodilal Meena, Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore, and Balak Nath Yadav, who have transitioned from being MPs to MLAs. In Chhattisgarh, the BJP has refrained from granting ministerial posts to heavyweights, indicating a potential experiment in cabinet expansion.
Following the decision on the MP cabinet, Rajasthan CM Bhajan Lal may be called to Delhi, or State BJP president CP Joshi and state in-charge Arun Singh may be sent to Jaipur with a list. The date for the oath-taking ceremony remains uncertain, with further developments expected on Sunday after President Murmu’s visit to Rajasthan.
