Six workers of the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGA) were injured, following a collapse of earth while they were excavating a trench in Venkatraopet village, Rajanna Sircilla district. The injured were promptly taken to a local government hospital in Sircilla, where they are currently receiving treatment. One fatality was confirmed, and the deceased’s body was handed over to their family after a postmortem examination. Dr. Chandrashekar, the Superintendent at the Sircilla government civil hospital, stated that proper care is being provided to all the affected individuals, with two sustaining leg fractures and three sustaining minor injuries. The deceased was identified as a female worker who tragically passed away at the scene. Further details on the incident are awaited.
