Deputy Chief Minister and Tourism Minister Diya Kumari attended the conclusion and award ceremony of OTM (Outbound Travel Mart) held at Mumbai’s Jio World Convention Center on Saturday.
Speaking at the event, she said that Rajasthan is renowned for its palaces, heritage sites, infrastructure, and eco-tourism. The participation of the Tourism Department in OTM has opened doors for tourism development for foreign professionals in Rajasthan. OTM is a leading travel trade show in Asia.
The OTM event took place from 8th to 10th February at the Jio World Convention Center. The Deputy Chief Minister mentioned that Rajasthan tourism has played a significant role in hosting G-20 summits in several cities.
Showcasing the state’s tourism capacity internationally in Udaipur, Jodhpur, and Jaipur will enhance Rajasthan’s image as an MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) hub in India.
She further elaborated that tourism and related industries contribute about 14% to the state’s economy in Rajasthan, providing economic benefits such as job creation, regional development, infrastructure development, and promotion of local handicrafts.
In 2022, the state improved its position by securing the 7th place for both domestic and international tourists. Recent figures show a considerable influx of tourists in 2023, hosting over 17.90 crore domestic tourists and welcoming nearly 1.7 million foreign visitors, showcasing a diverse range of guests.
