Rajasthan Deputy Chief Minister and Finance Minister Diya Kumari will present the Vote on Account, that is, interim budget in the Assembly on Thursday.
This Vote on Account will last for about four months. After this, the entire budget will be presented in the session to be held in July.
Many key announcements will be made by the government in this Vote on Account also. The reason for this is that Lok Sabha elections are near. In such a situation, the government wants to please the public through announcements.
After the budget was presented by the central government, attention in Rajasthan shifted to the interim budget of the Bhajan Lal government. This marks the first time in 20
years that the finance minister has been appointed independently in the state. As the finance minister, Diya Kumari will present the budget. Historically, whether it was the BJP or Congress, the Chief Ministers of both parties used to present the budget.
New government presents Vote on Account in state
In Rajasthan, whenever a new government is formed, the presentation of the interim budget becomes a standard practice.
This is because the government in Rajasthan is typically formed around December, and the new fiscal year begins on April 1.
Under this, there is a proposal to withdraw funds from the treasury for the salaries, pensions, and other government expenses for government employees for a few months. Approval needs to be obtained from the assembly for this purpose, following which the full budget is later presented.
