Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, on his Bharat Jodo Nyaya Yatra before the Lok Sabha elections, faced criticism for allegedly misbehaving with an India News journalist during a meeting in Rae Bareli, Uttar Pradesh, on February 20.

When the journalist posed questions, the ex-Congress President, Rahul Gandhi, reacted by raising his voice. The video reveals him inquiring about the journalist’s caste based on his name. Subsequently, Congress workers at the scene allegedly physically confronted the journalist.

In the video clip, Rahul Gandhi can be heard urging, “Don’t beat, don’t beat.” This incident is not the first instance of Rahul Gandhi’s contentious interactions with journalists, as he has previously been accused of insulting them on multiple occasions.

The incident has drawn criticism from BJP members, with videos circulating on social media, sparking outrage about journalists facing violence for questioning political leaders.

BJP MLA Shalabh Mani Tripathi expressed his dismay by tweeting the video, stating, “It is shameful that they have reached this level!!” Additionally, BJP UP spokesperson Manish Shukla commented, “I am saying again, the disease is becoming incurable. Don’t see a good doctor, now journalists are getting beaten up by supporters for asking questions. Soon they will start cutting and tearing themselves.”

Journalist Naval Kant also got angry. He also tweeted and said – Journalists are requested not to ask any questions to Rahul Gandhi or you will be beaten. This is the new trend of Congress. In Lucknow, news channel reporter Shiv Prasad was beaten up by Congressmen on the instigation of Rahul Gandhi. His question was – ‘Is there an alliance with SP or has it been broken?’ Shameful. Rahul Gandhi ji, not the owner but the reporter has been beaten by your goons. And yes, he is OBC. Shiv Prasad Yadav full name. What kind of politics are you doing? Shameful.’
