Rahul Gandhi must practise 'Satyagraha', and not 'Duragraha

In India, it is easy to practise Satyagraha in the garb of Duragraha and in this context, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has gone miles ahead after launching Satyagraha at Rajghat following his disqualification as a Parliamentarian in the wake of his conviction in a defamation case. Such an irony cannot be found even by exploring history.
Is it right or wrong to call someone or a group of people a thief? The Constitution does not allow anyone to do so. Is it right or wrong to obey the order of the court?
Every young, distressed and angry person resorts to launching agitation and unleashing anarchy on the streets instead of abiding by the order of the court or challenging the order in a higher court. And in Rahul Gandhi’s case, the Lok Sabha did a nice thing in scrapping the membership of the Gandhi’s scion but the grand old party of the country and its partners took no time in panning the decision of the Lok Sabha.  But the situation is obvious here as every political party has its own agenda for the 2024 general elections. A few days ago, Samajwadi Party (SP) supremo Akhilesh Yadav said that Congress should contest elections under the leadership of regional parties.
Though not in power at the Centre since 2014, Congress must take a lesson or two from the evolving political situation in the country.
There remains no doubt that Mahatma Gandhi had unwavering faith in Ram and non-violence but what Congress is trying to prove by sitting before Gandhi’s mausoleum at Rajghat after being responsible for the massacre of thousands of Sikhs in 1984 after the assassination of Indira Gandhi.   Several decades have passed since Raj Shahi ended in the country and democracy flourished but it has few takers. Congress Deputy leader in the Rajya Sabha, Pramod Tiwari, opines that the court should have taken Rahul Gandhi’s background before convicting him in the defamation case.  Is Rahul Gandhi above Constitution and court? Does Rahul Gandhi’s family have constitutional privileges? Are they different from the rest of the people of the country?
All laws of the country should apply to them  and there should be no discrimination here. It might be Gandhi family had enjoyed privileges during Congress rule. At airports, the names of President, Vice-President, Prime Minister, chief Justice, along with Robert Vadra, were included in the list of persons who were exempted from checking. As far as Robert Vadra is concerned, he had enjoyed all these privileges in the absence of holding any constitutional position? Was it fair? No.
To maintain his special position and perks in country, Rahul Gandhi repeatedly says that the Gandhi family never apologises and will never apologize. Can he apologise before the Supreme Court for his ‘Chowkidar chor hai’ remarks?
What public sympathy does Rahul Gandhi want to generate by giving such unrestrained comments? Giving sermons about country’s democracy abroad will not serve any purpose to him.
He and his party also seem to be adept at changing the subject. He holds a presser after the scrapping of his Lok Sabha membership.
The whole of the country wants to know what injustice was perpetrated on him but he said nothing except Adani, Adani and Adani and media as ‘uljalul’. Merely saying the media is scared of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and it does not convey his words positively, is not going to serve any purpose. He must shun his obduracy as this is India of 2023 and, not 1978.  The information of every moment is with 140 crore people and they are never going to bow down before Gandhi surname.
