Prime Minister Narendra Modi flagged off the Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut RRTS Corridor’s priority section, marking a significant step in regional connectivity. This elicited jubilation among locals, as the development promises faster commute times.
Union Minister of Housing and Urban Affairs, Hardeep Singh Puri, in an interaction with ANI, emphasised the potential of the Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut RRTS Corridor to drastically reduce the Delhi-Meerut commute from 3 hours to around 55 minutes. “It’s a groundbreaking initiative,” Puri proclaimed.
Puri also shared that in the next 18 months, India will boast the world’s second-largest urban transport metro system, outdoing the United States. “The growth in our urban infrastructure and facilities is harmonious with India’s burgeoning economic growth,” he asserted. Residents echoed similar sentiments. “It’s a game-changer,” Shubhank Agarwal, a local resident, said, underscoring the convenience the RRTS brings to daily passengers. The corridor, linking Sahibabad to Duhai Depot, is expected to cut travel times between these points from 30-35 minutes to a mere 12.
This corridor, touted as India’s premier semi-high-speed regional rail service, has stations at Ghaziabad, Guldhar, and Duhai. With trains designed to operate at 180 Kmph, this ambitious project encapsulates PM Modi’s vision of revolutionising India’s transportation landscape. Earlier today, Modi’s inauguration was attended by locals including 10-year-old Rishita Agarwal who expressed her admiration for the Prime Minister. Ghaziabad’s Shikha Sharma also expressed her enthusiasm, “We’re ecstatic about our PM inaugurating the RapidX train.”
The project was initiated with the foundation being laid by PM Modi on March 8, 2019.
