The Punjab Police had issued an alert to the Rajasthan Police regarding a potential threat to the life of Karni Sena chief Sukhdev Gogamedi from the Lawrence Bishnoi gang.
Tragically, Gogamedi was killed in Jaipur on Tuesday. The responsibility for the killing was claimed by Rohit Godara, affiliated with the Lawrence Bishnoi gang. The entire incident was captured on CCTV.
In February, the Punjab DGP office had sent a letter to the Rajasthan Police warning about a planned attack on the Karni Sena leader.
The letter detailed, “Based on information received, notorious gangster Sampat Nehra from the Bishnoi gang, presently incarcerated in Central Jail, Bathinda, is plotting to assassinate Sukhdev Singh Gogamedi, President of the Rajput community group ‘Shree Rashtriya Rajput Karni Sena,’ with the intent to instigate religiously motivated unrest in Rajasthan.”Additionally, the letter mentioned that Nehra supposedly arranged for an AK-47 through his associates outside the jail to carry out this unfortunate act. BJP just won the Rajyasabha Election there and the Government is yet to do a swear-in Ceremony. Congress blamed BJP for this assassination whereas BJP supporters are stating that till the swear-in ceremony Ashok Gehlot technically is a CM of Rajasthan.
