In a significant breakthrough against trans-border narcotic smuggling networks, Punjab Police and the Border Security Force collaborated in a joint operation, resulting in the apprehension of seven drug smugglers in Punjab’s Fazilka region. The operation yielded the seizure of 5.47 kilograms of pure grade heroin and Rs 1.7 lakh in cash from the individuals arrested.

Gaurav Yadav, Punjab’s Director General of Police, shared on X, “Fazilka Police & BSF, in a joint operation, have busted an International Narco smuggling module and arrested 7 drug smugglers with the seizure of 5.47 Kg pure grade Heroin, Rs 1.7 lakh drug money, 40 cartridges and more.”

According to the police chief, preliminary investigations suggest that the arrested individuals had connections with a smuggler based in Pakistan. A case under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act has been registered, with ongoing investigations aimed at establishing backward and forward linkages. “FIR under NDPS Act has been registered and Investigations ongoing to establish backward & forward linkages @PunjabPoliceInd is committed to dismantle the drug networks and make our state drug-free,” the DGP reiterated in the post.
