The Governor of Punjab, Banwarilal Purohit, has deferred his anticipated four-day visit to the border districts of the state, originally slated to commence on Tuesday. The decision to postpone the visit, requested by government authorities, has led to the rescheduling of the tour from March 12 to 14, as stated in an official release from Raj Bhawan.

The governor’s intended visit encompassed border districts including Pathankot, Gurdaspur, Amritsar, Tarn Taran, Ferozepur, and Fazilka. During this visit, Purohit aimed to conduct coordination meetings with central agencies and state government officials, marking his sixth tour to these districts in the past two-and-a-half years.  The visits have been part of an ongoing effort to monitor the collaboration between central and state security and intelligence agencies while gathering firsthand feedback from residents about any challenges they may be facing.

The statement from Raj Bhawan affirmed the governor’s commitment to engaging with the communities in the border districts of Punjab. It expressed Purohit’s anticipation of interacting with residents and officials during the rescheduled visit, with detailed information about the revised itinerary and schedule to be communicated in due course.
The decision to postpone the visit highlights the importance of flexibility in official engagements, considering the dynamic situations and requests from relevant authorities.
