Punjab Government Informed High Court: Have Formed Panel to Probe into Lawrence Bishnoi’s Jail Interviews

The Punjab Government in the case Akash Manocha vs. Union of India and others observed and has informed the Punjab and Haryana High Court that a committee has been formed in order to look into the incident of gangster Lawrence Bishnoi appearing on TV News Channel for the interview.

The bench comprising of Chief Justice Ravi Shankar Jha and Justice Arun Palli in the case observed wherein the Public Interest Litigation plea was moved, wherein seeking a probe into the incident by a central Agency.

In the present case, the Petitioner, Akash Manocha moved the court wherein seeking directions to a central agency to inquire and for registering an FIR against the person responsible for conducting the interview of Bishnoi’s from the jail premises, who is having more than 30 cases of murder, the extortion and ransom which being in the name of him.
Therefore, the State had already constituted a Committee under the ADGP in order to look into the matter, before the court, the counsel appearing for the petitioner, Gourave Bhayyia Gilhotra submitted that the petitioner would approach the Committee with regards to his grievance.

Adding to it, the counsel, Additional Advocate General, Punjab submitted before the court that it being the case of the petitioner that the authority shall look into the matter and take a decision thereon, in accordance with the law stated.

The plea was moved on March 20 before the Punjab and Haryana High Court, wherein seeking a probe into the recent News Channel interview of the alleged gangster Lawrence Bishnoi was dismissed by the court as being withdrawn.

Further, it has been stated by Punjab DGP Gaurav Yadav, in an official statement that the interviews in question were not being recorded inside any of the state’s jails.
It has also been claimed by the Bishnoi that he had a prior idea about the plan in order to assassinate Singer Sidhu Moosewala. Thus, he also threatened to kill Bollywood actor Salman Khan.
