Tejbeer Singh, an Akali leader and the Amritsar District President of the Students Organization of India (SOI), was apprehended with heroin in a significant operation by the counterintelligence agency in Amritsar, the police reported on Sunday.
The case was registered on July 21. Tejbeer Singh is known to be close to the prominent leaders of the Akali Dal. Along with 110 grammes of heroin, a car and Rs 3 lakh in drug money were also seized from the accused. Before this, the police had arrested Gurjeet Singh in connection with this case, the police added.
The SSOC Fazilka also detained two people while conducting another significant operation against transnational drug smuggling networks that netted 20 Kg of heroin. According to a Punjab police official, the arrested individuals picked up the drug shipment from Village Hasta Kalan, which was airdropped using drones.
