The Pune Police informed a local court that the father of the 17-year-old boy involved in a fatal car accident instructed his driver to hand over the keys of his Porsche Taycan to his son whenever he asked for them.

The father’s lawyer, a prominent builder in Pune, contended that he gave the car to the driver, not the teenager.

According to the police statement accessed by TOI, the driver contacted the father, reporting that the teenager wanted to drive the car. Subsequently, the father instructed the driver to sit in the adjacent seat and allowed the teenager to drive.

Meanwhile, the Juvenile Justice Board (JJB) revoked the bail of the 17-year-old boy on Wednesday, sending him to a remand home for 14 days. The Pune Police have filed a review petition urging the authorities to try him as an adult.

The father of the minor was arrested for permitting him to drive without a license and remanded to police custody until May 24.

The boy allegedly drove under the influence during the accident. Additionally, the Pune Police arrested the owners of two bars for serving liquor to the minor. One of them reportedly spent ₹48000 at the bars within a few hours.

Savitha Awadhiya, the mother of one of the victims, termed the accident as murder, blaming the boy’s negligence for the tragedy. She demanded strict punishment for him and appealed to the Maharashtra government for justice.
