The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has voiced serious concerns regarding the health and safety of its founder, Imran Khan. In a statement released on Sunday after a critical meeting, the party demanded full access to Khan by his family, legal team, and party officials.
PTI emphasized the need for transparency in Khan’s treatment and urged both the federal and Punjab governments, along with prison authorities, to provide regular health updates.
The PTI statement appealed to the judiciary to safeguard Khan’s fundamental rights, highlighting the importance of robust security measures. The party warned that it would hold the Prime Minister, Punjab Chief Minister, and other state institutions accountable for any lapses in ensuring Khan’s safety.
Authorities at Adiala Jail reassured the public about Khan’s well-being, reporting normal blood pressure and blood sugar levels following daily check-ups. Jail officials confirmed that Khan maintains his fitness through regular exercise and is provided with all necessary facilities, including a monitored diet.
Despite these reassurances, PTI continues to push for greater transparency and access to ensure accountability.
Khan is currently under physical remand until December 2 for a case related to the September 28 protests. On December 30, an Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) in Lahore found him guilty in connection with the May 9 incidents. The court presented audio and video evidence of Khan allegedly inciting violent actions, denying him bail in eight cases.
The situation surrounding Imran Khan highlights growing political and public concern in Pakistan. While authorities assert that his well-being is being managed, PTI’s call for transparency reflects underlying tensions over the treatment of its leader in custody.
