In the ongoing fight against terrorism, the Jammu and Kashmir police have seized the residential property of a terrorist associate linked to the Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) in the Budgam district. The measure was implemented against Mohammad Ramzan Mir, who resides in the Rudbugh Magam area of Central Kashmir, due to his deliberate participation in providing shelter and support to terrorists.
Mohammad Ramzan Mir is identified as a terror associate or an over ground worker (OGW) associated with the proscribed terrorist outfit LeT, according to official sources. The move to attach Mir’s residential house was a result of an investigation into a case registered under various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), the Arms Act, and the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act
During the investigation, it was uncovered that Mir’s property had been acquired as proceeds of terrorism, falling under the purview of 2(g) of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act. Additionally, the property was found to be willfully used for harbouring terrorists, adding another layer to the charges against the militant associate.
The police action underscores the authorities’ commitment to dismantling support networks and structures that aid and abet terrorism. By attaching the property of individuals involved in harbouring terrorists, law enforcement aims to disrupt the logistical and operational support provided to proscribed outfits like the LeT. The move is seen as a significant step in the ongoing efforts to counter terrorism in the region.
