The Devbhoomi Sangharsh Samiti (DSS), a pro-Hindu organization actively engaged in the Sanjauli mosque issue, has called on local vegetable sellers to display placards reading “Sanatan Sabji Wala.” This initiative aims to encourage a boycott of vendors from other states.

Members of the Samiti, in collaboration with the Civil Society Group of Sanjauli, distributed these placards to vegetable sellers, urging them to showcase them at their stalls and shops.

Vikas Thapta, affiliated with both the DSS and the Civil Society Group, explained, “We distributed placards with ‘Sanatan Sabji Wala’ written on them among vegetable sellers. Nobody was forced to display the placard on his/her stall, vegetable vends, etc. We distributed placards only to differentiate between local vegetable sellers in Sanjauli sitting for a long time and those who come here frequently, disturb the peace and vanish.”

However, sources noted that many vegetable sellers took down the placards shortly after DSS and Civil Society Group members left the local market.

Located 7 kilometers from Shimla, Sanjauli was the center of violent protests on September 11, which called for the demolition of an alleged illegal mosque. The situation prompted a heavy police presence, resulting in over 15 FIRs against protesters, including members of the BJP, Vishwa Hindu Parishad, DSS, and other groups.
