The accused was hiding in Delhi/NCR after committing the crime. He also whipped out a pistol at the time of apprehension in order to flee.
A team of Special Cell/Northern Range, led by Inspr. Puran Pant, Inspr. Ravi Tushir, Inspr. Kulvir, Inspr. Vikaram, and Inspr. Brahma Prakash, under the supervision of Shri Ved Parkash, ACP, Special Cell/NR, and Sh. Rajiv Ranjan Singh, DCP/NR & STF has apprehended an absconding criminal, namely Nitin s/o Gopi r/o Narela, Delhi (Age 23 years), who was involved in a gruesome murder case of contract killing in the area of Mathura, UP, reported vide FIR No-273/2023, u/s 302 IPC, dated 13/07/2023, PS Jait, Mathura, UP.
The teams of Special Cell, Northern Range, are continuously working on the wanted criminals and gang members of criminal syndicates to curb crime in Delhi/NCR. In this regard, the Special Cell sleuths keep a check on the wanted criminals of other states who have shifted their base to Delhi/NCR, so that they cannot join hands with the local gangsters to commit crime in the region.
In this process, the team identified a wanted criminal involved in a murder case of contract killing in the area of Mathura, UP namely Nitin s/o Gopi r/o Narela, Delhi (Age 23 years), who had recently shifted his base in Rohini area and was trying to contact an active gang of Delhi for shelter and to work for such gang.
On August 4, 2023, with the persistent efforts of SI Sunil, SI Pawan, ASI Lalit, HC Parminder, HC Sonu, HC Sandeep, and HC Mahender, specific information regarding the movement of the above criminal Nitin was received at about 08.45 p.m., and a trap was laid near Mahadev Chowk, Prahladpur Village, Delhi. At about 10:25 p.m., when Nitin reached the place of information, he was surrounded by the team members and warned to surrender. Despite warnings to surrender, the accused whipped out a pistol and tried to fire to make his way to flee. But, the team showed exemplary courage and apprehended the culprit after a brief scuffle. One single-shot pistol with a live cartridge was recovered from the possession of the arrested accused. Accordingly, a case under relevant provisions of law was registered at PS Special Cell, Delhi and investigation was taken up.
Profile of the accused
The accused has studied up to the 2nd standard only. His parents are labourers. He has a married elder brother and a younger, unmarried sister. He is also associated with the work of his family and was working as a daily wage worker in a dry fruit factory at Narela, Delhi.
Detail of the case in which the arrested accused was wanted
In the first week of July, the accused received a call from one Kallu, r/o Badarpur, Delhi, that someone was to be murdered, and for this work, they would get a handsome amount. On this, as asked by Kallu, he reached Mathura and met him. He was also introduced to Gurmeet from Shahbad Dairy, Delhi. One Sumit of Palwal was also called. It was ensured by Gurmeet that a handsome amount would be paid for this work. They did a recce for the same, and on July 13, 2023, at about 2:30 PM, they entered the office at a developing colony at Jait, Mathura. He caught hold of the targeted person, and Kallu and Sumit stabbed him, and they all fled away from the spot. In this case, Kallu, Sumit, and Gurmeet have already been arrested by the concerned police team.
Further investigation is going on.
