President, PM Modi, Several Other Leaders Condole Demise of Sushil Kumar Modi

The passing of veteran BJP leader and former deputy chief minister of Bihar, Sushil Kumar Modi, at the age of 72 after a seven-month battle with cancer, drew condolences from political leaders across the spectrum. President Droupadi Murmu, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Vice President Jagdeep Dhankar, and Home Minister Amit Shah, among others, expressed their grief and paid tribute to his contributions.

President Murmu hailed Sushil Modi’s gentle nature, administrative prowess, and integrity in public life, emphasizing his significant role in Bihar’s political landscape. Prime Minister Modi, in a heartfelt message, mourned the loss of his longtime friend and valued colleague, acknowledging Sushil Modi’s pivotal role in the BJP’s rise in Bihar and his contributions as an administrator and politician.

Vice President Jagdeep Dhankar described Sushil Modi’s demise as a significant loss to the nation’s socio-political fabric, highlighting his parliamentary contributions and commitment to political propriety. Home Minister Amit Shah lamented the void left by Sushil Modi’s passing, recognizing his dedication to the welfare of the poor and backward sections of society.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, and BJP national president JP Nadda also expressed their condolences, praising Sushil Modi’s lifelong dedication to public service and his pivotal role in Bihar’s development.

Sushil Modi’s illustrious political career spanning three decades saw him serve in various capacities, including as MLA, MLC, and member of both the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha. His tenure as Deputy Chief Minister of Bihar from 2005 to 2013 and again from 2017 to 2020 left an indelible mark on the state’s political landscape.
