Prem Singh Chandumajra, a senior member of the Shiromani Akali Dal, reaffirmed on Wednesday that his organization will not collaborate with the NDA, INDIA, or the Opposition bloc. He declared that his party would never form alliances with groups opposed to “federalism.” “Shiromani Akali Dal made it clear right away that we are not a part of either the NDA or the INDIA Alliance, or any other alliance that opposes federalism. All parties are working together to save one family, as evidenced by the INDIA alliance, he claimed.

This comes as the Opposition bloc is holding a two-day meeting in Mumbai today (August 31) and tomorrow (September 1). The agenda of this meeting is likely to announce a coordination committee, a logo, and panels to draft a common minimum programme for the alliance. In this meeting, the 26 political parties that are part of the alliance will discuss the seat-sharing ratio and establish a secretariat to enhance coordination between all member parties.

Prem Singh Chandumajra responded to Bhagwant Mann’s statement on Wednesday regarding the employees of Punjab’s DC offices by saying that the chief minister ought to refrain from making statements like that. Such statements by the Chief Minister will only inflame the anger of government workers. In order to prevent problems for the general public, the Chief Minister should pay attention to the demands of the employees, take them into consideration, and clearly explain them, as well as the government workers’ demands.
