The court in Uttar Pradesh’s Prayagraj District sent the three accused in the Atique Ahmed-Ashraf wherein killing to 14-day
Judicial Custody.
However, the remand magistrate sent the alleged shooters, who are being identified as Sunny Singh, Lavlesh Tiwari, and Arun Maurya to the Judicial Custody after the accused were produced by the Prayagraj Police.
Therefore, the Atique Ahmed brothers were shot dead in a shocking incident on Saturday night at around 10 pm in the presence of the police and the media while they were being taken for the medical examination to a hospital in Prayagraj.
Further, the three accused came to the spot posing as journalists and has shot the Ahmed brothers point-blank range in full view of media persons and the said incident was being captured live on television channels. Thus, the said incident took place just two days after the son of Atique’s Asad was killed in an encounter.
The court booked the alleged assailants under section 302 of the Indian Penal Code, 1860 along with section 3, section 7, section 25 and section 27 of the Arms Act, 1959, and other
relevant sections.
In the meantime, the Uttar Pradesh government has set up a judicial commission to inquire into the matter under the Commission of Inquiry Act 1952 which is to be led by the retired Allahabad High Court Judge Arvind Kumar Tripathi.
