Dr Satish Poonia, the former state president of the BJP, has lauded the historic decision to confer the Bharat Ratna on former Prime Minister Chaudhary Charan Singh, P.V. Narasimha Rao, and agricultural scientist M.S. Swaminathan. He expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the decision, stating that it enhances the dignity and pride of the entire farming community in Rajasthan and the country.
Describing the day as akin to Diwali for farmers in Rajasthan and the entire nation, Poonia believes that the decision will boost the self-esteem of the country’s farmers.
Poonia commended the Modi government for implementing the recommendations of M.S. Swaminathan, providing relief to farmers and raising their standard of living.
Drawing parallels with the past, he mentioned that former PM Atal Bihari Vajpayee and renowned scientist and former President Dr A.P.J. Abdul Kalam were also honoured with the Bharat Ratna.
Highlighting Chaudhary Charan Singh’s advocacy for farmers’ welfare, Poonia emphasized Singh’s belief that the economic well-being of the country is intertwined with the fields and farmlands.
