In the final countdown to the 2024 Haryana election results, Kurukshetra Deputy Commissioner Rajesh Jogpal reiterated the robust security measures implemented to protect the Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs). A stringent three-tier security cordon has been established around the EVMs, stored in four strong rooms at Kurukshetra University. Jogpal emphasised, “As per the norms laid down by the Election Commission, a three-tier security cordon is in place for the EVMs. The Central Paramilitary Forces (CPF), Haryana Armed Police, local police, and the Duty Magistrate have all been appointed.”

Only candidates, their counting agents, and election agents are permitted inside the counting area, and strict rules are in place, prohibiting mobile phones, pens, or paper to ensure a smooth process. With over 20,000 polling stations set up for the elections, the voter turnout hit 65.65%, surpassing expectations from previous elections.

Exit polls predict a landslide victory for the Congress, with some forecasts projecting the party to win 50-58 seats. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), expected to trail behind with 20-28 seats, faces stiff competition in the 90-member Haryana Assembly, where a majority requires 46 seats. This marks a crucial moment for Haryana, as voters await the official results set for Tuesday.

As tensions rise ahead of the results, authorities have deployed over 60,000 security personnel and 225 paramilitary units across the state. DGP Shatrujeet Kapoor mentioned that high-security areas, like Nuh, have been fortified with 13 paramilitary companies to ensure law and order.
