Amid preparations for forthcoming assembly polls in Haryana, political stalwarts are focussing and mulling over strengthening their inheritors as well as to ensure the longevity of their political dynasties. In terms of dynastic politics, Haryana could very well be the national capital. All eyes are on prominent political families and their next generation struggling for their political existence. From the Chautalas of Sirsa, Bishnois of Hisar to Hoodas of Rohtak, Haryana is home to several prominent political dynasties dating back at least three generations and as the polls draw, all political families are gearing up to ensure the bright political career of their inheritors.

Former CM and Congress bigwigs Bhupendra Singh Hooda who needs no introduction in the politics across the country is making every possible effort to return to power for the third time which is not a cakewalk for him in view of the prevailing political scenario. His son and Rajya Sabha MP Deepender Singh Hooda is also continuously engaged in strengthening the party by participating in political programs. Since father-son duo faced debacle in Parliamentary polls held in 2019 and keeping in view this, Bhupender Singh Hooda is mulling over every possible strategy to ensure the bright political career and the victory of son Deepender in forthcoming polls. In view of his unilateral hold in Haryana Congress, the opponents within and outside the party are taking on Hooda terming Haryana Congress a party of patriarchs. Despite the repeated efforts, efforts failed to weaken Hooda ahead of polls.

On the other hand, the Chautala family is among the prominent political families in Haryana politics. After the separation of the family, OP Chautala and his son Abhay Chautala are currently marginalized in the politics of the state. Abhay’s sons Karan and Arjun have also not been able to establish themselves in the politics of the state.

In such a situation, Abhay Chautala is trying to bring the golden era of the party back which seems an uphill task in wake of ongoing political scenario.

On the other hand, OP Chautala’s elder son Ajay Chautala is pretty active and politically sound unlike Abhay as Ajay Chautala’s elder son Dushyant Chautala is the Deputy CM in the coalition government with BJP and is now preparing for the post of CM. Contrary to this, His younger brother Digvijay Chautala has not yet achieved much success in state politics and is busy preparing for the upcoming elections.

Similarly:, the family of late Chief Minister Bhajan Lal have also managed to have a stake in power and now another generation from the family entered in the state politics. Bhavay Bishnoi, grandson of Bhajan Lal and son of Kuldeep Bishnoi succeeded in emerging victorious on Adampur seat after he was fielded by the saffron BJP.

Kuldeep Bishnoi was given a huge responsibility in Rajasthan elections too, in which he lived up to the expectations of the party to a great extent. Amid this, he is eyeing a berth in the state cabinet for a long time but failed to gain the same so far.

The family of late former CM Bansi Lal is also counted among the dominating political families in the state. Her daughter-in-law Kiran Choudhary and Congress leader who is an MLA from Tosham, has been marginalized in her own party for a long time. Her daughter Shruti Chaudhary who holds the portfolio of the state party working president faced fiasco in parliamentary polls held in 2019 and but her political career is still facing hiccups.
