Haryana is going to witness a series of political combinations ahead of the Assembly elections next year. The BJP and its ally JJP have formed the government on two consecutive occasions. On the other hand, the Congress and the INLD would like to return to power.
Pertaining to the continuity of the alliance with the JJP, the BJP leaders are of the opinion that people do not want continuity of any such compulsive alliance in future. Notably, BJP had to enter into the alliance with the JJP on account of not getting the requisite number in the state assembly polls in 2019.
In continuation to this, it is worth mentioning that former Chief Minister and INLD supremo Om Prakash Chautala hinted that his party is open to alliance ahead of the next Assembly elections in the state. He continues to take on the ruling faction stating that the BJP-JJP led government’s ouster is imminent. Pertaining to the possibility of an alliance with the Congress, OP Chautala is of the opinion that he had no malicious intent towards anyone. Contrary to this, the Congress stalwarts are constantly stating that the party is pretty strong to mark victory in the state.
The leaders of opposite parties are of the opinion that all Opposition parties, including the Congress, should join hands to defeat the BJP government at the Centre. It is worth noting that the INLD has been out of power in Haryana since 2005 when it was defeated by the Congress that formed the government under Bhupinder Singh Hooda’s leadership. The Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) leaders are in support to form an alliance with any party except the BJP-JJP in a bid to ensure its inclusion in power. It is constantly coming to the fore that JJP is currently in favour of keeping the alliance, while at the same time, there have been indications from BJP bigwigs that the party might not continue an alliance in forthcoming assembly elections. It is evident from the recent statements of the party leaders that BJP is most likely to decrease its dependency over the JJP.
The Aam Aadmi Party has so far failed to prove its mettle in Haryana. Following the victory in Punjab and to keep the momentum, the party stalwarts made every possible effort to form the government in Haryana Punjab. The party had to face humiliating defeat and even it had to lose the security deposit of its candidature in last year’s Adampur elections. There are constant indications that the party may forge an alliance with the Congress at the national level in the times to come. One of the AAP leaders said that in the coming days, the party may agree on some seat adjustments with the Congress to defeat the ideologically opposite BJP.
