According to a police official on Friday, the caretaker of the Vatsalyapuram Orphanage in the Vijay Nagar neighborhood of the city is the subject of an Indore police case alleging that the children there have been tortured. On the advice of district collector Ashish Singh, the case was opened at the district’s Vijay Nagar police station on Thursday. The Collector had been notified, the police said, that minors were being tortured and kept in Vatsalyapuram Ashram without authorization. The collector took action and assembled a team to handle the situation.

“A few days ago, the district Collector formed a team, including a Women and Child Development Officer, SDM and others which had reached Vatsalyapuram Ashram to investigate. A total of 21 children were found in the Ashram and the team conducted an interrogation. The caretaker of the ashram was failed to submit the required documents at that moment,” said Rajesh Dandotiya, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (ADCP).
