In a significant crackdown, the Budgam police apprehended three individuals on November 28 for their involvement in the illicit trade of counterfeit gold biscuits. Acting on information received from reliable sources, the Police Station Khansahib swiftly intercepted a suspected vehicle, bearing registration number JK04F-5047, near Gogjipathri Crossing in the Khansahib area.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Fayaz Ahmad Dar, son of Ab. Ahad Dar, resident of Malwa Kunzar; Farooq Ahmad Dar, son of Gh Mohammad Dar, resident of Arizal Khansahib; and Shabir Ahmad Dar, son of Jalalu Din Dar, resident of Arizal Khansahib.
A search of the vehicle led to the discovery of 239 counterfeit gold biscuits in their possession. The trio, during questioning, failed to provide evidence substantiating the authenticity of the items, leading to their subsequent arrest.
A case under relevant sections of the law has been registered at Police Station Khansahib, marked as FIR No.163/2023, and an investigation has been initiated. Preliminary findings suggest that these individuals were allegedly selling the fake gold biscuits to unsuspecting buyers at exorbitant rates, engaging in deceptive practices.
