A 19-year-old man was arrested in the Cachar district of Assam for allegedly kidnapping and raping a 14-year-old girl, according to police.
According to authorities, the incident occurred on September 19 and a FIR was filed that day by the juvenile girl’s family.
The person who was arrested lives in the Udharbond region, which is about 15 kilometres from Silchar town.
According to the minor girl’s family, the accused was the driver of the auto-rickshaw that kidnapped her.
He trapped and forcibly kidnapped her. Later, she was threatened and tortured by him, as she explained. He then took her to a forest area and raped her several times,” the family members alleged.
Subrata Sen, a police officer of the Cachar district, claims that a FIR was filed the same day and that the police then started looking for the suspect.
“He was arrested from Udharbond area and we have registered a case against him under section 365, 376 of Indian Penal Code and section 4 of POCSO Act,” Sen said.
