Following a series of extensive protests and violence that resulted in 3 people’s deaths in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, the demonstrators ended their protest on Tuesday, as the Pakistani government conceded to their demands and announced a huge relief package on Tuesday.
The Jammu Kashmir Joint Awami Action Committee (JAAC) while announcing the cessation of their protests, stated in a release, “The government acceded to all the protesters’ demands the previous day.”
However, JAAC will continue to observe state-wide shut down till 3 pm, In honor of those who lost their lives in the protests.
As per the GeoNews, JAAC leader Shaukat Nawaz Mir was grateful to PM Shahbaz Sharif for the acceptance of their demands. That had been pending for more than a year.
“Our protest” movement had three basic demands which were cheap flour, cheap electricity and the abolition of privileges for the elite class” said Mir”.
In addition, the JAAC leader also demanded financial compensation for families of three protestors and police official who got killed.
The representative further demanded, those arrested during the protest, should be freed followed by the annulment of cases against the demonstration.
Earlier on May 10th, Jammu Kashmir Joint Awami Action Committee (JAAC) had called for the shutter-down and wheel Jam strike in Pok’s Muzaffarabad. To protest against inflation, demanding tax-free electricity from Mangla Dam, demanding subsidies for wheat flour and putting an end elite class privileges.
