PM Modi’s participation in the G7 Summit, held at the luxurious Borgo Egnazia resort from June 13-15, marks India’s involvement as an Outreach country. The summit brings together global leaders to address pressing international challenges and enhance cooperation. Modi, who arrived in Apulia late Thursday night, was welcomed by India’s Ambassador to Italy, Vani Rao, and other officials.
Expressing his enthusiasm for the summit, PM Modi highlighted the importance of engaging in productive discussions with world leaders to tackle global issues and foster international cooperation. This trip to Italy is his first international visit after securing a third consecutive term in office.
The meeting with PM Sunak is notable as it follows their last interaction during the G20 Summit in New Delhi in September 2023, which was Sunak’s inaugural visit to India since assuming office in October 2022. The continuity of their engagements underscores the growing India-UK relationship.
Modi’s schedule at the G7 Summit also includes a bilateral meeting with Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni. This visit to Italy holds special significance for Modi, who reminisced about his previous visits and the progress in bilateral ties resulting from high-level exchanges between the two countries.
Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal provided details of Modi’s engagements with world leaders on June 14, highlighting the strategic importance of these discussions. This year marks India’s 11th participation in the G7 Summit and Modi’s fifth consecutive attendance, reinforcing India’s role in global diplomatic dialogues.
As the G7 Summit progresses, PM Modi’s interactions with international counterparts continue to underscore India’s commitment to addressing global challenges and enhancing bilateral and multilateral cooperation for a brighter future.
