PM Modi to visit Jammu; to lay foundation of various projects worth Rs 32,000 crore

Around 11:30 AM at the Maulana Azad Stadium in Jammu, the Prime Minister is scheduled to inaugurate, dedicate to the nation, and lay the foundation stone for multiple development projects totaling over Rs 32,000 crore. These projects span various sectors such as health, education, rail, road, aviation, petroleum, civic infrastructure, among others. During the program, the Prime Minister will distribute appointment orders to approximately 1500 new Government recruits of Jammu and Kashmir and interact with beneficiaries of government schemes under the ‘Viksit Bharat Viksit Jammu’ initiative.

In a significant move towards enhancing education and skilling infrastructure nationwide, the Prime Minister will inaugurate and dedicate to the nation several projects totaling approximately Rs 13,375 crore. This includes the dedication of permanent campuses for IIT Bhilai, IIT Tirupati, IISER Tirupati, IIITDM Kurnool, academic and residential complexes in IIT Patna and IIT Ropar, two permanent campuses of Central Sanskrit University in Devprayag (Uttarakhand) and Agartala (Tripura), and the inauguration of permanent campuses for IIM Visakhapatnam, IIM Jammu, and IIM Bodh Gaya. Additionally, the Prime Minister will inaugurate the Indian Institute of Skills (IIS) in Kanpur, focusing on advanced technologies.

Furthermore, the Prime Minister will dedicate improved infrastructure in various higher educational institutes, including hostels, academic blocks, administrative buildings, libraries, auditoriums, etc., across institutions such as IIT Jammu, NIT Delhi, IIT Kharagpur, NIT Durgapur, IISER Behrampur, NIT Arunachal Pradesh, IIIT Lucknow, IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi, Central University of Kerala Kasaragod, and others. Additionally, foundation stones for projects to upgrade infrastructure in various higher educational institutes will be laid during the program.

The Prime Minister will also inaugurate the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Vijaypur (Samba), Jammu, providing comprehensive healthcare services. Costing over Rs 1660 crore and spread across 227 acres, the institute includes 720 beds, a Medical College, Nursing College, AYUSH Block, residential accommodation, hostels, Night Shelter, Guest House, Auditorium, Shopping Complex, and state-of-the-art facilities in various specialties and super specialties.

A foundation stone will be laid for a new terminal building at Jammu Airport, covering 40,000 sqm area, which is expected to enhance air connectivity, boost tourism, and accelerate economic growth. Various rail projects in Jammu & Kashmir, including a new rail line and electrification of existing sections, will be dedicated to the nation. Prime Minister will also lay the foundation stone for road projects, including the Delhi-Amritsar-Katra Expressway, Srinagar Ring Road, and upgrades to the Srinagar-Baramulla-Uri stretch of NH-01.

Additionally, the foundation stone for a Common User Facility (CUF) Petroleum depot at Jammu will be laid, a fully automated depot costing about Rs 677 crore, with a storage capacity of approximately 100,000 KL for various petroleum products.

Various civic infrastructure and public facility projects across Jammu and Kashmir, worth more than Rs 3150 crore, will be inaugurated and their foundation stones laid by the Prime Minister. These include road projects, bridges, grid stations, receiving stations, transmission line projects, effluent treatment plants, sewage treatment plants, degree college buildings, an intelligent traffic management system in Srinagar, a modern Narwal Fruit Mandi, a drug testing laboratory at Kathua, transit accommodation, industrial estates, and more.
