On the birth anniversary of former Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru, Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid tribute on Monday.

Taking to Twitter PM Modi tweeted, “On his birth anniversary, tributes to our former PM Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru Ji. We also recall his contribution to our nation.”

Every year Children’s Day is celebrated on 14 November to mark respect to the first Prime Minister of independent India.

The first Prime Minister of India Jawaharlal Nehru was known for emphasizing the importance and giving love to children. Nehru was also known as ‘Chacha Nehru’.

Following an active role in the freedom struggle of the country on 15 August 1947 Nehru became the prime minister of India.

Moreover, for students in schools, nationwide various programs and activities are organized such as games, competitions, and government bodies pay tributes on this day.

However, the United Nations also declared 20 November as Universal Children’s Day in 1964.
