Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid homage to Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar, the architect of the Indian Constitution, on his birth anniversary, describing him as an inspiration for various backward-class people.

“Tributes to Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar on his Jayanti. Jai Bhim!” the Prime Minister shared on X.

In a video posted on X, PM Modi praised Babasaheb Ambedkar’s legacy, stating, “Babasaheb Ambedkar is an inspiration for various people belonging to the backward classes. He made us realize that to achieve anything, it’s not necessary to be born into a wealthy family. Instead, in India, people born into poor families can also dream and work hard to fulfill their vision.”

Reflecting on the challenges faced by Ambedkar, PM Modi noted, “There were times when people tried to stop him and strived that a poor man belonging to a backward class would not move forward. However, the image of the new India is completely different. This India belongs to Babasaheb Ambedkar, to the poor, to the backward class.”

PM Modi highlighted Ambedkar’s vision for industrialization, which resonates with initiatives like Make in India. He stated, “Today, the Make in India campaign is running successfully in the country. Ambedkar Ji’s dream of industrial power is an inspiration for us.”

He also praised Ambedkar’s emphasis on urbanization and self-reliance, citing initiatives such as Mudra Viswas, Startup India, and Standup India as examples that inspire young innovators and entrepreneurs.

Every year on April 14th, India celebrates Ambedkar Jayanti in honor of Babasaheb’s birth. The day is a public holiday across the country, with schools, banks, and some public sector organizations closed.

Fondly known as ‘Babasaheb,’ Ambedkar was not only the chief architect of the Indian Constitution but also the first Law and Justice minister of free India. Born into an impoverished Dalit Mahar Family in Madhya Pradesh, he fought tirelessly for the equal rights of marginalized sections of society, becoming a revered ‘Dalit Icon’ for his contributions towards their rights.
