Prime Minister Narendra Modi embarked on a visit to Rajasthan on Wednesday, where he began his day by offering prayers at the Brahma temple in the city of Pushkar. Following this spiritual start, PM Modi proceeded to address a rally in the poll-bound Ajmer district of Rajasthan. The rally served as a momentous celebration of the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) nine years in power at the Centre.
The state of Rajasthan is scheduled to hold Assembly polls later this year, and the BJP has identified 45 assembly seats within the state’s eight Lok Sabha constituencies as its key focus. Notably, this visit marked the sixth program in Rajasthan by PM Modi within the past eight months, underscoring the party’s commitment to the state.
Leader of the Opposition Rajendra Rathore expressed his expectation that hundreds of thousands of people and party workers would congregate at the rally from the 45 assembly seats encompassing eight Lok Sabha constituencies, including Ajmer and Jaipur.
The timing of this BJP event is significant, occurring shortly after the Congress party held discussions with Ashok Gehlot and Sachin Pilot in the national capital, New Delhi, on Monday night. These discussions were held in anticipation of the upcoming assembly polls later this year.
During his visit, PM Modi launched the “Maha Jansampark” campaign by addressing a public meeting in Ajmer, Rajasthan. This campaign, which commenced on May 31 and is set to continue until June 30, involves extensive public programs across the country to commemorate the BJP’s nine years in power at the Centre.
The “Maha Jansampark” campaign encompasses a range of activities, including more than 51 massive rallies, public meetings at over 500 locations, and over 600 press conferences in 500 Lok Sabha and 4,000 Vidhan Sabha constituencies. Additionally, the campaign aims to reach out to over 500,000 distinguished families across the nation.
Tarun Chugh, the national general secretary of the BJP and coordinator for the “Maha Jansampark” campaign, shared details of this ambitious outreach effort, emphasising that 288 top BJP leaders and 1.6 million party workers will engage with voters at ten lakh booths and 144 clusters covering all Lok Sabha seats. The objective is to convey the achievements of the party’s nine-year rule at the Centre.
As part of this comprehensive campaign, party leaders will also meet 1,000 eminent families per Lok Sabha segment and organise 51 mega rallies nationwide. Furthermore, seminars involving teachers, social media influencers, and other distinguished citizens will be conducted to foster engagement and discussion.
The BJP has planned an Enlightened Conference in each Lok Sabha constituency with intellectuals, and on June 25, the anniversary of Emergency Day, a documentary highlighting how Congress allegedly undermined democracy will be showcased as part of the program.
Door-to-door public meetings involving leaders, office bearers, workers, Union ministers, and national office bearers will be conducted from June 20 to June 30. Furthermore, an eight-day two-wheeler tour will take place in assemblies across the country. This tour, called the Yuva Yatra, will include programs such as Nukkad Sabhas (street corner meetings), sports competitions, and felicitations for young achievers in the main areas of cities, villages, and mohallas.
PM Modi’s outreach also extends to farmers, with plans to contact beneficiaries of the PM Kisan Nidhi scheme and hold meetings with presidents of various farmer producer organisations. Additionally, Village Chaupal events will be organised at mandis (marketplaces) with the sarpanch (village head) and the Sarva Panchayat Organisation (SPO), aimed at engaging unorganised labourers.
Inclusive of the BJP’s campaign efforts is the Tribal Gaurav Yatra Morcha, which aims to connect with beneficiaries from Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes across the nation. District-level Tribal Gaurav Yatras will be held, featuring programs that pay tribute to Lord Birsa Munda and involve representatives of Scheduled Tribes.
Furthermore, the campaign will ensure contact with beneficiaries of the backward class at the booth level. The BJP aims to directly engage with people at all ten lakh booths throughout the country, thereby connecting with 100 million Indians.
PM Modi’s visit to Rajasthan and the launch of the “Maha Jansampark” campaign underscore the BJP’s commitment to reaching out to voters and highlighting their accomplishments as they approach the upcoming Assembly polls.
