Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday unveiled three indigenous PARAM Rudra supercomputers developed under the National Supercomputing Mission (NSM). These supercomputers, aimed at facilitating groundbreaking research, have been deployed in Pune, Delhi, and Kolkata, marking a significant step in India’s technology advancement.

Built at a cost of Rs 130 crore, the PARAM Rudra supercomputers are expected to revolutionize research in multiple fields by providing high-performance computing capabilities.

Boosting Weather and Climate Research

In addition to the supercomputers, PM Modi inaugurated a Rs 850 crore High-Performance Computing system designed specifically for weather and climate research. This advanced system will enhance India’s ability to make precise weather forecasts and climate predictions, contributing to better disaster management and agricultural planning.

A Milestone in Science and Technology

Speaking at the virtual launch, PM Modi called this a “very big achievement” for India’s science and technology sector. He emphasized that technology and computing are critical to every sector, and India must aim for a bigger share in the global technology revolution. “In this revolution, our share should not be in bits and bytes, but in terabytes and petabytes,” Modi said.

Empowering Scientific Research

The PARAM Rudra supercomputers are expected to accelerate scientific research across various domains, including artificial intelligence, machine learning, and data analysis. These systems will play a crucial role in solving complex scientific problems and supporting advanced technological innovation in India.

Driving India’s Technological Future

PM Modi highlighted the importance of science in not only driving technological advancement but also fulfilling the aspirations of the common man. He stressed that these achievements prove that India is moving in the right direction with the right speed, securing its place in the global scientific community.
