Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the Pradhanmantri Sangrahalaya or Prime Ministers’ Museum, a symbolic tribute to every Prime Minister since Independence. The museum is located at the Teen Murti complex. Paying via digital mode, PM Narendra Modi became the first official visitor to the museum. The Rs 271-crore museum tells the contributions of every Prime Minister of the country, irrespective of their ideologies, including how India’s Prime Ministers steered the country through numerous problems and secured overall progress, starting with exhibitions on the liberation struggle and the framing of the Constitution. There are 43 galleries in total.
The PMO said, “Guided by the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to honour the contribution of all the Prime Ministers of India towards nation-building, Pradhanmantri Sangrahalaya is a tribute to every Prime Minister of India since Independence, irrespective of their ideology or tenure in office.”
The museum aims to create awareness among the youth with a technologically-advanced display of contributions by 14 former Prime Ministers. The museum combines the former Teen Murti Bhawan (Block I) with the newly constructed Block II. According to the PMO, the two blocks have a total area of nearly 15,600 square metres. Sustainable and energy-conservation practices are incorporated into the design. The PMO also stated that no trees were destroyed during the construction of the museum. The museum’s logo depicts the hands of Indian citizens grasping the Dharma Chakra, which represents the nation and democracy, according to the statement. Mediums such as holograms, virtual reality, augmented reality, multi-touch, multimedia, interactive kiosks, computerised kinetic sculptures, smartphone applications, interactive screens, and experiential installations have been provided for highly interactive and engaging exhibition content. The cost of a ticket to the PM Sangrahalaya is Rs 100 online, Rs 110 offline, and Rs 750 for foreigners. Children aged 5 to 12 years will receive a 50% discount, while college and school students will receive a 25% discount if the tickets are purchased through their colleges or schools.
