Amid the ongoing turmoil in West Asia, heightened by the recent intensification of violence between Israel and the Iran-supported Hezbollah terrorist group, Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a conversation with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Monday (September 30) to discuss the situation in the region.

In a post on X (formerly Twitter), PM Modi shared insights from his discussion with Netanyahu, stating, “Spoke to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu about recent developments in West Asia. Terrorism has no place in our world.”

The Prime Minister reiterated India’s dedication to aiding the prompt restoration of peace and stability in the area. “It is crucial to prevent regional escalation and ensure the safe release of all hostages. India is committed to supporting efforts for an early restoration of peace and stability,” PM Modi added.

The intensifying conflict between Hezbollah and Israel poses a significant threat to Middle Eastern peace. The clashes have escalated following the initiation of hostilities by Hamas gunmen in Gaza, leading to Israel’s continuous bombardment of the Gaza Strip. While Israel’s responses have severely impacted Hamas, Hezbollah has increased its assaults on Israeli targets in support of the Palestinians.

Since then, Hezbollah has launched over 8,000 rockets into northern Israel and the Israeli-occupied Golan Heights. The group has also used anti-tank missiles against armored vehicles and targeted military installations with explosive drones. In retaliation, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) have executed ongoing airstrikes, tank maneuvers, and artillery fire against Hezbollah positions in Lebanon.
