Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday said Prime Minister Narendra Modi calls himself to be a patriot but has been silent on the Chinese encroachment into Indian territories in eastern Ladakh for over five months.
Addressing a rally in Haryana, Rahul Gandhi said the PM is a “coward” and had the Congress been in power, the Indian security forces would have thrown the Chinese troops 100 km away from the border.
“The coward PM says no one has taken our land. Today, there is only one country in the world whose land has been taken by another country. And PM calls himself a ‘deshbhakt’. If we were in power we would’ve thrown out China 100 km away from the border in less than 15 minutes,” Rahul Gandhi said in his speech.
Earlier in the day, addressing another rally in Patiala, Punjab, Rahul Gandhi said Prime Minister Narendra Modi is “not bothered” about what is happening in the country and he only “protects his image”.
Rahul Gandhi was in Punjab and Haryana as part of his three-day ‘Kheti Bachao Yatra’ against the three farm bills that were recently passed by Parliament.
Raising the issue of the ongoing standoff between Indian and Chinese troops in Ladakh at the Line of Actual Control, Rahul Gandhi said PM Modi had said no one “snatched” India’s land. Then how was “1,200 square km” taken away by China, he asked without substantiating his claim.
