After his side’s six-wicket win over West Indies in the second ODI, England skipper Jos Buttler expressed his happiness with his knock, stating that he was searching for runs and pleased to reach the 5,000-run mark in ODIs.
A return to form for bowling all-rounder Sam Curran, along with skipper Jos Buttler, and an explosive half-century by opener Will Jacks helped England beat West Indies by six wickets in the second ODI at North Sound to level the series on Wednesday night.
“I have been searching for some runs. Being there till the end helps. It’s really pleasing. I’ve been playing for a while. It’s pleasing to reach these milestones. It was frustrating earlier.
Sam (Curran) is a brilliant character. He never shies away from a challenge. Having them 20 odd for 4 helped. It was a must-win game today, and we put in a brilliant performance,” said Buttler after the post-match presentation.
In the match, Buttler scored an unbeaten 58* in 45 balls. His knock included four boundaries and three sixes, coming at a strike rate of over 128. He has scored 11 centuries and 26 half-centuries in his career, with the best score of 162*. He is the fifth-highest run-scorer for England in ODIs, with former skipper Eoin Morgan at the top with 6,957 runs.
