Piyush Goyal, a prominent leader of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), officially took charge of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry in the national capital on Tuesday. He was warmly received by Jitin Prasada, the Minister of State (MoS) for the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, along with other officials.
Expressing his gratitude, Goyal thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the opportunity to serve the nation once again. He acknowledged the significant progress achieved across the country under PM Modi’s development-focused governance over the past decade. Goyal emphasized the importance of building on this foundation and working diligently during this crucial period to ensure rapid advancements in commerce and industry.
Goyal highlighted the government’s commitment to creating new opportunities for the youth and tirelessly working for the welfare of all citizens. He spoke highly of PM Modi’s visionary leadership, stating that it has positioned the nation to achieve remarkable heights. Embracing the philosophy of “Sabka Saath, Sabka Prayas,” Goyal stressed the collective efforts and trust of the people as essential drivers for India’s brighter future.
In the 2024 parliamentary elections, Goyal secured victory in the Mumbai North constituency against Bhushan Patil, the Mumbai Congress vice president, with a substantial margin of nearly 3,57,608 votes. His extensive political experience includes serving as the Minister of Railways and Coal, with additional responsibilities as Minister of Finance and Corporate Affairs in 2018 and 2019. Goyal has also held key positions as Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Power, Coal, New & Renewable Energy (2014-2017), and Mines (2016-17).
